Peta and Stephen's house is part of a small development built by prisoners of war in 1943 as accommodation for warders at the local jail. The couple bought it for its long garden, fantastic view of the Sussex Downs, and its convenient location. They worked on the whole house from top to bottom, stripping wallpapers and taking up carpets. All their decorating decisions were directed towards introducing light and colour. Every floor was painted white and walls were treated to a variety of bright colours.
